Founded in 1923 by Mr. R.P. Dewar, later joined by Mr. C.R Chapman, our firm has a long-standing tradition of legal excellence. Over the years, the firm has evolved through various partnerships, each contributing to its esteemed reputation.

In 1957, Mr. J.C.N. Borman joined Mr. E.R. Chapman, marking the beginning of a new era as E.R. Chapman & Borman. With the addition of Mr. J.P. Snyman in 1959, the firm became known as Chapman Borman & Snyman. The team was further strengthened in 1961 with the inclusion of Mr. M.C. Barnard, leading to the firm’s current identity, Borman Snyman & Barnard, established on 1 March 1965.

Our offices, originally located at the intersection of Retief and Voortrekker Road (now Thabo Mbeki Drive), have been a cornerstone of the community since 1957. In response to the firm’s growth and the evolving needs of our clients, we relocated to 63 Thabo Mbeki Drive in the Rentmeester Building, and later to our present location at 100 Thabo Mbeki Drive, Mokopane, in 1996.

While the founding partners have since passed, their legacy continues through the leadership of our current directors, Johann Fredrich Winnertz (Ford) and Jacobus van der Wateren (Jaco). They are supported by a dedicated team of professionals, including Marthinus Jacob Manser (Thinus), Heléne van Niekerk, Lukas Johan Hendrik Smit (Hennie), and 14 staff members.

Our clientele spans multiple sectors of the economy, including agriculture, construction, real estate development, transportation, hospitality, tourism, education, and auctioneering. Additionally, we are proud to serve on the legal panels of several prominent financial institutions, including ABSA, Standard Bank, and Nedbank.
